Long drive: Italy to Switzerland

Travel Date:

Tuesday, 27th May 2014

Our last day in Venice and we had our breakfast was in Il Molino Restaurant, an informal yet cozy restaurant. One of the best restaurants we've been to so far in our trip. Wish I had taken pictures.

Departed from Hilton Molino Stucky around 7:45am and sailed back to main land.

We witnessed farmlands as we journeyed to northern Italy. Passed the beautiful Italian Lake District as we travelled into the center of the Swiss Alps. We drove through San Gottardo Tunnel with the length almost 17 kilometers.

Did you know that St. Gottard Tunnel is the 3rd longest tunnel in the world? The longest is Norway's Lærdal Tunnel (24.5 km), followed by China's Zhongnanshan Tunnel (18 km).

Arrived in Lucerne late afternoon. A unique city in northern part of Switzerland. Find out what we did and discover in Lucerne in the next few articles.
