Marblee Cheezy Puto
About The recipe
Puto one of the usual snacks for Pinoys. This is like a muffin or a cake but it's cook by steaming instead of baking. There are a lot of puto variations. For me the easiest one to prepare is the puto cheese. Basically you only need 2 steps: mixing and steaming. Viola! Then your puto is done.
This is a customized recipe tailored to our preferred taste.
Ingredients
- 8 cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 4 cups granulated sugar, sifted
- 5 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 cups evaporated milk
- 5 cups water
- 1 cup melted butter
- 2 pieces raw egg
- 16 small pieces of cheese (either cheddar or quick melt)
- 1/4 cup chocolate, melted
- 4 cups water for steaming

A hole made in the middle of dry ingredients into which liquid is poured before mixing.
Steps:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar and baking powder. Blend well
- Add the butter, evaporated milk, eggs and water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly
- Pour the mixture on invidual molds
- Put a small portion of the melted chocolate on top of the batter.
- Stir the batter for 3 rounds using toothpick or barbeque stick
- If cheddar cheese, put on top of the batter. For quick melt cheese put it later after steaming
Steaming
- Pour the water in the steamer
- Arrange the molds and steam for about 20 minutes
- Remove the put from steamer and let it cool for 5 minutes
- Remove the puto from the mods and place it in a serving place
- Serve either hot or cold
