Enjoying our last night in Paris

Travel Date:

Friday, 30th May 2014

How quickly time flies.. We are almost at the end of our journey. I'd wished we could spend more days to explore and wander around this beautiful place. After the long and fulfilling city walk site seeing with the local guide, we took a nap in the hotel to rest our tiring feet. An hour after, we decided to look for a bistro or a restaurant around the neighborhood. Our hungry tummies led us to this yummy place. Find out in the related articles section how our dinner turned out to be a lovely dining experience.

Full and satisfied and about time to discover more of Paris by foot. It was a delight to know that our hotel - Le Méridien Etoile is in a very good location, a 15 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe. Along the way, we enjoyed taking pictures of the old buildings, structures, boutiques, the small roads as well as the busy street of Avenue de la Grande Armée. The street's old name was Avenue de la Porte Maillot, then later it was named as Avenue de la Grande Armée in 1864 dedicated to the Grand Army or in French 'Grande Armée' during the wars led by Napoleon. Most of the bicycles and car Merchandisers can be seen on this avenue.
At the end of the road is Place Charles de Gaulle, a huge intersection. At the center of this junction situated the one of the most photographed, one of the famous iconic monuments in Paris which is the Arc de Triomphe. Know more about the arc and its intricate design in the related articles section.  We also found Victor Hugo Avenue, a road dedicated to Victor Hugo. I learned from our local tour guide that the avenue was named for him even if he was still alive.

Hubby took as much as pictures of the arc while the sun was up. Bought a cup of cappuccino at the nearby grocery store to keep me warm in a cold afternoon. We sat on a bench facing the iconic structure and enjoyed every moment while we were there. Dark came and the lights lit up around the arc at the center of the noise and busy streets. Yet it was peaceful and a romantic evening. A wonderful feeling to end the day!
