The Colours of Burano

Travel Date:

Monday, 26th May 2014

Burano is one of the Venetian Lagoon in Northern Italy and it is recommended by many travel magazines as one of "10 most colorful locations in the world." Why? When you get to Burano, you will be fascinated why the houses are painted in different colours. During the earlier times, the reason why they painted their houses into bright colours so that fisherman can their homes from afar when they are gone for fishing. Presently, since colourful houses is one of the main highlights of this place, they need to submit a request to the government and to check if the color is permitted for that lot.

This beautiful place is also known of it's leading Bell Tower of Church of San Martino, Lacemaking school and Museo del Merletto (Lace Museum). Murano glass products and venetian masks are mostly seen in their souvenir shops.

We had our late lunch (actually it was already an afternoon snack for us) at this lagoon and I had my very first risotto in this town and it was very delicious!
